Matthew McCray
Matthew McCray believes every child deserves the opportunity to discover that math isnā€™t something to fear, but something to enjoy.
Although he spent more than three decades solving some of the worldā€™s most challenging engineering problems in the semiconductor industry, his own journey with mathematics began very differently. Entering college, Matthew had to start with elementary algebra after receiving a weak mathematical foundation in junior high school. Through determination, curiosity, and persistence, he built the skills that eventually led to a successful career in engineering.
THE LESSON
That experience taught him an important lesson: success in mathematics is built one concept at a time.
Number Village
Inspired by that lesson, Matthew wrote the book Number Village the first of a series to give young children the strong mathematical foundation he wished he had. Through memorable characters, playful stories, and engaging illustrations, he hopes to help children discover that numbers are friendly, logical, and fun.
Matthew lives in Colorado with his wife, where he enjoys studying science, astronomy, and history, developing educational projects, and creating books that inspire curiosity and lifelong learning.
